How to Draw a Snail

This is a super fun and easy tutorial designed for young children (ages 4–10). The snail will have a cute, cartoonish look.

✏️ Materials Needed:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Black marker or pen (for outlining)
  • Crayons or color pencils

🎨 Drawing Steps

Step 1 – Draw the Shell Spiral

Draw a big spiral shape, like a cinnamon roll or a spring.
Start in the center and slowly spiral outwards.

Step 2 – Draw the Outer Shell

Now, draw a large circle around the spiral to form the outside of the snail’s shell.
It should look like a lollipop!

Step 3 – Draw the Body

Starting at the bottom of the shell, draw a curved line going forward and looping back.
This is the snail’s body. Make it look like a soft jellybean under the shell.

Step 4 – Add the Head

At the front of the body, draw a rounded bump. This is the snail’s head.

Step 5 – Draw the Eyes

From the top of the head, draw two short antennae going up.
At the end of each one, draw a small circle for the eyes.

Step 6 – Draw a Smile

Let’s make it friendly! Draw a smile on the face.
You can also add tiny blush circles or dots near the cheeks.

Step 7 – Add Details

Add lines on the snail’s shell to make it look more real.
You can also draw a small leaf or flower next to it!

Step 8 – Outline

Trace over your pencil drawing with a black marker.

Step 9 – Color

Use brown or orange for the shell, and light green or yellow for the body.
Or make it rainbow — it’s your snail!
